Well today in the inaugural blog, with these being the first political words I utter for the entire world to see, well at least in approximately the past 15 years. Why the long hiatus, in short no good answer, it’s likely the result of apathy, the desire to earn money and live the good life or at least chase the myth of that thought. At any rate I am back with a vengeance. By way of introduction I am a middle-aged man questioning the reality of my own existence as a political social animal. I often contemplate where I have come from and where I might be going. In college I coined the phrase “Instant Republican, Just Add Money” when I was a dyed in the wool liberal, only to find my politics change as my reality changed. Now some might say that I personify the other phrase I coined at the same time during college “ I once was a Democrat Until I Learned What it Cost”. Somewhere between these two phrases you might find me on any given day. Why, because as my situation changes so goes my politics. Now the intellectual purist might quip that I don’t have any political principle an a priori if you will. This couldn’t be the furthest from the truth. My first principle is to self and family, out this stems all my actions. If anyone argues differently they are merely lying to others or themselves. It is this self-delusion at either end of the political spectrum, left or right, which has caused all the socio-political maladies exhibited in every society across the globe. The unfortunate problem with this fact is that it will continue for the entire history of humanity no matter how brief our stay is on planet earth.

The purpose of this discourse is to hopefully elicit a dialogue that will entertain both sides of every issue, not in effort to find what is right, because what is “right” is basically egocentric. When it comes to socio-political actions, positions, ideologies and principles there are no real right and wrong. The black and white characterizations that any one political actor may attempt to propagate are simply tools used as a means to an end in most of these actors’ lives. Perhaps the only individuals who might not be accused of acting in the political arena are the theorists. The philosophers who have scratched out a theory which often times throughout history have been done so at great personal expense to themselves, especially when it ran counter to the prevailing political wisdom of the day.
